Omaha Beach looks so peaceful now
Having spent every summer in Brittany for 7 years, we decided that it was about time we visited the D-Day landing beaches. We began at Omaha beach by taking a guided tour around the huge American cemetery. We drove on a few miles and spent the night at Port-en-Bessin in the supermarket carpark, which is listed in the camperstop directory. Next morning found us at Arromanches-les-Bains, on the western edge of Gold beach, where we spent a couple of hours in the Mulberry Harbour museum.

Afterwards we drove on to Juno beach at Courseulles-sur-Mer and parked up on the designated camperstop area along the entrance road to the park and museum. The next morning we visited the Pegasus bridge and museum at Ouistreham. There is much we could say about these visits, but suffice to say that it is a very worthwhile trip and would touch each of us in different ways. Then we drove towards Calais for the rest of the day, spending the night on a huge camperstop at Le Touquet-Paris-Plage.
