and Hello France!

and Hello France!

We played safe and took the peage into France because we’d been warned about the gridlocked coast road here.  We drove past Monaco and Nice to stay on a site called Les Colombiers at Cagnes-Sur-Mere that we’d found in the ACSI sites book, which meant that, although we are in a very expensive area, we camped for €15 per night; that’s not possible in the high season of course, but well worth the £11.95 to join for the year.  It’s a good site with a helpful proprietor who clued us up on buses and trains for the coast.  We took the bus into Nice early on Sun morning and, after a good look around, decided to take the train to Monaco so, naturally, photos were taken beside suitably large yachts.  We were amazed at how quiet and empty it was in both Nice and here, but then realised that it was bound to be because life along this coast doesn’t start until night time!

We took the bus to Cannes on Mon, which drove through Antibes and the smaller villages en route.  On the train back to our site we were closer to the beach and saw that along the stretch at Juan-les-Pins there were motorhomes parked, not just cars, so a mental note was made!
